About
An AI governance advisory practice at the intersection of generative AI and senior leadership, built for Australian boards and executives.
Grounded in serious intellectual work on AI governance and internal AI risk. Built for boards and executives navigating a challenge that most advisory firms are not yet equipped to address.
The Intellectual Foundations
OCNUS came to the advisory offer through the intellectual work.
The AI governance framework — the three internal risk threads, the four organisational levels, the taxonomy of AI systems, the body of real-world evidence — was developed because the problem demanded it. Not as a product to sell, but as a rigorous attempt to understand what is actually happening in organisations and what boards and executives are genuinely responsible for.
The advisory practice exists to bring that thinking to bear on real organisations facing real exposure. The framework is the foundation of everything OCNUS does. It is available in full in the Understanding AI section for anyone who wants to examine it before deciding whether to have a conversation.
Rob Leach
Practitioner, researcher, adviser.
Dr Rob Leach has spent his career working at the intersection of leadership, AI governance and strategy. His practice draws on deep experience in strategy development and Design Thinking — the discipline of building strategy that is both analytically rigorous and grounded in human reality — and on serious intellectual engagement with the governance questions that AI is now placing in front of every board and executive team in the country.
He is currently completing his second doctorate, examining the adoption of AI in the Australian workplace. That research sits at the core of the OCNUS advisory practice. It is what distinguishes the advice from opinion: a sustained, evidence-based inquiry into what AI is actually doing to organisations, to the people inside them and to the leaders responsible for governing it.
OCNUS was built on that foundation. The three services — coaching, governance, strategy — are the applied expression of the same body of work.
Working with OCNUS
A small number of clients. Substantive, direct, sustained.
OCNUS works with a small number of boards, executives and senior leaders at any one time. Engagements are substantive and tailored. Clients work directly with Rob Leach — not with a team of junior consultants managing a relationship on his behalf. The quality of the engagement is protected by design, not by aspiration.
The first conversation is without obligation. It is a direct, substantive discussion about the problem you are facing and whether OCNUS is the right adviser to help you with it.
